OK time to confess this is not my own work but the work of Mark Clarkson that he has kindly let us borrow as we thought it was so good as a first lesson to give students a handle on python.
You will need to have python installed on your network and have the IDLE environment installed alongside it - this is pretty much "a given" when you install python, don't worry.
